So what is YSA? YSA or Young Single Adults is the name given to categorise unmarried 18-30year old Mormons/members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and we have activities all over the country :) (and worldwide). So last weekend we to Huddersfield in Yorkshire for a convention. It was themed 'Standing for Something' and had an attendance of 200 people, the majority of which were church members, although non-members are completely welcome to come along :).

The weekend included two 'Dances' which are parties with DJs, live bands, strobe lights, decor, refreshments, the works (but no alcohol of course). The Friday night dance was casual (so jeans, etc are ok) yet themed Fantasy, so some people came in fancy dress. The decorations were the best I've ever seen at a dance, the committee went all out and put in so much effort. The Saturday night was formal so everyone dressed up (suits, heels, dresses, skirts, etc).

We had a live band, as well as a DJ and the decorations were super classy. As a lovely surprise they had arranged for us to set off chinese lanterns and each have a sparkler.

During the Saturday we carried out a service project in the morning for the local community, in the afternoon we had various activities; I played Laser Quest :) which was brilliant fun even if my shot is pretty poor. The Sunday we had a testimony meeting in the chapel where anyone can get up and bear their testimony, which concludes our lovely weekend.

We stayed at a friend's house in the beautiful town of Halifax and bringing our own car was so much more convenient, even if we did get lost. On our drive home we decided to take advantage of the beautiful scenery in Halifax and snap a few photos. British countryside really is beautiful.
